Brenda Sylvester is a born woods girl. She grew up backpacking the Allegheny trails of West Virginia alongside her mother, Karen, learning survival techniques and falling in love with the quiet beauty of the outdoors along the way. She went on to earn her BFA in Visual Arts from West Virginia University, and to this day she's still out on the trails that etch their way through her home state.
Painting, photography, and craft arts have always kept Brenda's spirit dancing to the tunes of time. That lifelong love of craftsmanship, paired with her deep connection to West Virginia's landscapes, is what inspired her to start West Virginia Alive. Every piece in the shop, from the bracelets to the tie dye shirts, is handcrafted by Brenda herself, carrying a little bit of the mountains in every stitch and bead.
